   In the just-concluded international evaluation "TAC-KBP 2014", the system, which a Ph.D candidate Gang Zhao from MSIIP had been responsible for research and development of, won the second place in the evaluation "EDL(Entity Discovery and Linking) Track". Who had been engaged in this system included Ruochen Xu, a undergraduate from Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, and Qiyu Zhi, an intern from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

   TACText Analysis Conference is a serial of technique evaluation held by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), including numbers of reserach interests in the field "Text Analysis". The evaluation tasks in "TAC-KBP 2014" included Cold Start, Entity Linking, Slot Filling, Slot Filler Validation, Sentiment, Event, in which "Entity Linking" had been a key-point evaluation task since 2009 and an academic reseach hot spot in these years. Unlike the previus years, the task "Entity Discovery and Linking (EDL)" in this year, extended from "Entity Linking", required each competing system to extract entity words from documents automatically and implement entity linking. There were 20 teams paticipating in the evaluation, including MSIIP who was the first time to join in. Finally, MSIIP won the second place in the comprehensive evaluation index.

   TAC2014 workshop was held in NIST in Washington DC on November 17th and 18th, 2014. Associate prof. Ji Wu, the director of MSIIP, attended this workshop and communicated with participants.
