the laboratory consultant, a professor of Department of Electronic Engineering Tsinghua University,
a Ph.D supervisor, the founder of Speech Recognition Technology Lab(SRTL).
Born in Ganxian,
Jiangxi Province in 1935 with the Han
nationality. From Year 1954 to 1959,
studied in Department of Radio
Electronics Tsinghua University for a Bachelor's Degree, majoring in Radio
Technology. From year 1960 to 1963, studied in Bauman Higher Industry School
in Moscow, Soviet Union, majoring in
Radio Technology. Acquired a
Ph. D. Had been Engaged in
Teaching and research on radar, control,
image processing and communication in Tsinghua
University for more than 30 years.
Served as a professor of Department of
Electronic Engineering Tsinghua
University, a Ph. D
supervisor, and concurrently as the
deputy director of the Communication Theory
Committee, China Institute of Communications.
With the solid theoretical foundation
and profound expertise, used to teach
more than 20 courses: probability and
statistics, complex analysis, real
function theory, functional analysis,
optimization theory and algorithm,
digital signal processing, digital
circuit, radar system analysis, modern
control theory, image processing, speech
signal processing, system analysis, etc., involving vast fields such as
Mathematics, Physics and Engineering.
Used to be in charge of several national
key research projects. After the
implementation of National High-Tech "863"
Program, had been responsible for
research on speech recognition regarding
"863" intelligent computer subject.
published dozens of papers in domestic and international
journals and conferences. Named
expert who was granted the special
government allowances of the State
Council in year 1992.
in the design and research on "Military
Secret Telephone Networks" as a main
backbone in 1984, which won the second
National Science and Technology Progress
Award and the grand prize granted by the
Department of Electronics.
In year 1992, led the project group to successfully develop
Chinese real-time isolated-word recognition
system based DDBHMM(Duration Distribution Based Hidden Markov Model)
and statistical language
model, passing the national appraisal in the end of this year. This system was commented by experts
with that "the recognition model,
recognition rate for mono-syllable, the correct rate of conversion
between speech and characters, and the overall
performance of speech recognition had reached
international advanced level in the field of speaker-dependent
Chinese isolated-word speech recognition"
and won the gold medal by the first
China Exhibition for
New Product and Technology.
Led the project group
to develop a
"Speaker-independent Chinese Continuous
Speech Dictation Machine" system. In
April of year 1998, this system won the
champions in both algorithm test and
system test in the fifth national "863"
evaluation for Chinese speech recognition
system and obtained circularized commendation from
the "863" panel.
